Journeys of discovery and exploration in the lands of the midnight sun
Since 1893 Hurtigruten have been a part of the coastal life of Norway and now operate daily departures on 11 unique ships between Bergen in the south and Kirkenes on the Russian border, calling in at 32 ports along the way. Our intrepid Nordic spirit also inspired us to go further, to explore lands far beyond our natural horizons – Spitsbergen, Greenland and Antarctica – where regular shore excursions and onboard lectures unveil some of the more enticing locations on Earth.
When it comes to Norway, no-one knows the coastline better than Hurtigruten. As well as giving holidaymakers the voyage of a lifetime, the ships are a lifeline to the remote towns, fishing villages and hamlets that line the shores bringing local passengers, goods freight and even the daily post.
Whilst all of the Hurtigruten ships are comfortable and accessible, offering a wide range of facilities, cabins and services to suit all tastes, the emphasis of all Hurtigruten voyages lies with what isn’t on the ship such as the beautiful towns and ports visited, the incredible fjord scenery and the fabulous choice of excursions which are specially formulated to help you get the most from your holiday. Enjoy walking tours of Bergen, Ålesund or Trondheim; take a trip to Europe’s northernmost point, the North Cape; or enjoy a riverboat safari to the Russian border in Kirkenes.
When you are on board and the ship is in motion, the emphasis of a Hurtigruten voyage is on relaxed informality. Relax in one of our comfortable panoramic lounges, enjoy a choice of shops and restaurants or simply step out on deck to enjoy the scenic Norwegian coast as you pass it by.
